Note to Self

A note to myself. Next time you go on vacation, be sure to unplug the TV. Otherwise:

A. Lighning strikes the TV. Daughter and Wife very unhappy.
B. Wife instructs you to search for the least expensive TV available. You obey.
C. You are forced to go to a Store with the Wife, ostensibly to purchase said least expensive TV.
D. Wife will not actually like least expensive model. You begin looking at others.
E. You will choose the TV you prefer after 5 minutes of careful comaprisons.
F. Wife will spend a full hour turning on TVs, turning up sound, comparing models.
G. Wife will choose the same model you preferred some 55 minutes earlier.
H. Store closes. You go back the next day to buy TV, lug into the truck, adn cart home.
I. You will spend two hours unhooking all the old TV/stereo equipment, cleaning, rechecking wiring and connections.
J. Wife will come home and announce that she's not sure that she likes the TV after all.

Google thinks I'm a Political Blog

Ineresting to note the ads that are populated by Google AdSense in the right column over there. Hopefully you've noticed those in the past.

What's intersting to me is how persistent the political ads become once I've posted anything having to do with politics in the ole' blog. I think the last postings I made on that topic were last week when I had a couple of items on Kerry's and Bush's positions on education. Since those postings the ads on the site have been dominated by political advertisements of all kinds--funny T-shirts, pro-Bush, pro-Kerry, RNC, DCN, et al.

I don't know if having a Politics category has anything to do with it, but it's at least mildly intersting that the ads being pushed down by Google are so skewed in that direction while the vast majority of posts have nothing to do with politics. Of course, it could simply be that there is more political ad space being sought by advertisers.

Authentic Boredom: 8 Things I Wish I'd Known...

Eight things I wish I'd known when I started: Cameron Moll writes at Authentic Boredom on the 8 things that every designer should keep in mind, or at least the 8 thing that he wishes he had paid more attention to. Excellent advice on keeping things simple, being sure that the details don't bust the client's budget, and buying a good paper trimmer.

eLearning at Macromedia

Breeze Presentations on eLearning: Macromedia has posted some very intersting recorded sessions that were conducted in Breeze centered around the topic of eLearning. If you are looking for the direction that eLearning may take in the future, or want a beter understanding of how to incorprate the tools from Macromedia that allow you to build eLearning modules (Breeze, roboDemo, Authorware) then there's probably something here that you'll be interested in.
